Diary of a Provincial Lady (Virago Modern Classics)

Booksellers are concerned about making themselves relevant in the coming years as technology changes the way literature is delivered to and used by the reader. Kindle is just the beginning. I think one way to keep the traditional style of the book alive is to make the covers so delicious, so must have-able, that the reader will buy the physical item over the downloadable. Maybe not for things such as textbooks and references, but look at this book and tell me whether you could resist it's beauty... I couldn't.

Um, no trouble at all. Now if it was daylilies instead of common old roses, well that would be a different story...

I can't resist books. Can't imagine using an electronic version. Books are my oldest friends.

There's nothing like holding an actual book in my hands. No Kindle for me. At least not while 'real' books are still being produced.

While I may not buy a book for its cover, there is no substitute for the book I have to hold and turn pages. I do not want to have to listen to someone jabber on books on tape or sit at a computer to read a book.

The electronic will happen but I think hard copy will continue in various forms.

I love books too - I am not advocating the electronic form, but they are crating such flexible readers for the near future that I think they will find a place in our lives as well

Well ,,,, the manservant gave me a kindle for my birthday - the intent was so I don't have to carry so many books on my long plane rides home. I absolutely love it at the moment - I have more than 20 books on it and it weighs one book's weight. My birthday was in July and I continued to buy and read "real" books in bed - but I have to say I will not go back to "real" books for travelling!
