my little house on the prairie
I walked out of our front door this morning and a kookaburra promptly started to "laugh" I stood glaring him down - it had to be a male, only a male would be so rude as to erupt into laughter and completely fail to appreciate my natural beauty - when I caught a movement out of the corner of my eye. It was a fox! A fox in the city! Ok the outer suburbs but there is a lot of city left after our suburb!
Anyway, it came out of the bush just behind the vacant lot next door. It hid behind the neighbours car for a moment, checking me out I expect, and then it turned and disappeared back in the bush.
I guess the drought is bringing the animals into the more populated areas for food. We aren't far from the river either and there is a bit of a natural corridor down to the river.
Not sure how I feel about foxes in the city. Or my street. Can they climb paling fences?
