... the back 40 inches of yard that is! I planted my punnet of bok choy out into a larger container. The pot was suppose to contain 6 seedlings, but with a bit of division I got 8 - bonus! Now I just have to hope nothing eats it before I do! Nasty pests like grasshoppers. Crush, kill, destroy - maybe I can find an outlet for my killer instincts hunting the pests down.
I need some MR FD help to clear out the dead, dead, deadist kaffir lime tree as I have decided to plant the rosella plants there. I have mulched some of the area with sugar cane mulch and also need MR FD to help me retrieve some nice composted dirt from our compost bins. Times like this I get angry about my back injury, but I have more time to work on that now too.
I think planting my"crops" is a positive way to start the New Year. I think I am just starting to unwind from the past and all the unemployment mayhem, and while I am still marking time waiting for everyone to get back to their offices and satrt helping me craft my new life, I am becoming calmer. I am also starting to form plans for some much needed tasks around the house - cleaning out the pantry, my closets, and Mr FD's study (he has to participate in that one, I am not the type of wife who takes over his space).
Being unemployed means that I may actually have to do these things, instead of just thinking or TALKING about them...walk the walk and not just talk the talk. I would rather just do the talking, but sometimes one has to step up to the line.
I just wont draw the line in too clearly yet...I need some more down time. One can never have enough down time!
Daughter 2's car is parked at the side of our house - and a severe storm warning went out today. So, it was action stations by Mother Flamingo Dancer and Son Flamingo to protect said car from hail
I hope she appreciates our efforts! Or maybe we wont tell her - much better idea!
And standing on the front porch I took these storm photos, just because:
More rain forecast tonight - the blankets are in place!!!!!
Thank you to everyone for being so supportive, generous and kind to me over the past few days since my derailing by MegaBossBitch. I am over it now. Wiser too. It is her problem not mine so I am not going to waste my life hours over her nastiness. Worse things have happened to me, and no doubt may still, so I have got my perspective back. I couldn't have done it without all of you though, so thank you kind blog friends, for your wit, sympathy and sound advice. I am the richer for knowing all of you.
I took myself out to the garden today and planted my Honey Gem and Coastal Dawn grevillea. The coastal Dawn burst into bloom over the past week sitting in its pot so I can share it with you
Not far from where I planted it the lime tree is in full flower....last season we got so many that we were all taking large shopping bags full of them to our workplaces and giving them away...everyone loves lime in their corona beer!
and the nasturtiums have self sewn and are mutant this year - HUGE.
Prior to the gardening I went grocery shoping with Daughter1 who did indeed survive the school camp and we had coffee and citrus tart at Gloria Jeans before we commenced the trolley trek. Daughter even put all the groceries away and made us chicken and corn soup for dinner while I gardened. A pretty terrific way to get your groove back!
Onward, ever onward!
Australia has been suffering severe drought for the past several years (yes Virginia, there is global warming!). At the moment we are having a green drought. That means it has been raining almost everyday since Christmas, but not enough to replenish the ground water and water storage dams. However, my garden is thriving. This morning I came out and little mushrooms had popped up in colonies all over the lawn. I have to take photos because they looked so delicate. This group made me think of a snoozing family, their hatted heads bowed over in slumber, waiting for the summer sun to wake them to another day. I love my garden, it brings joy to my heart and nourishes my spirit,
